Small software, real work

Software for people you know.

Describe an app to Claude — a roster, a booking sheet, a stocktake tool — and it's live in minutes on your own server, behind your own login, for the handful of people who need it. No credits. No lock-in. No strangers.

Three promises

Three things nobody else will promise you.

01 / YOUR PEOPLE

One roster. Every app.

Add the people you trust once — staff, family, teammates. Every app you ever build already knows them. One login for everything, controlled by you. Someone leaves? Remove them once and they're out of it all. No sign-up pages, no passwords, no user admin. Just your people.

02 / YOUR SERVER

You own the ground it stands on.

Every croft is a real private server with your name on it. Your apps and your data live there — not in someone's shared cloud. Want to leave someday? Take the whole server with you. It was always yours.

03 / NO METERS

One flat price. No credit anxiety.

Croft charges for the ground, not the ideas. Build one app or twenty — the price doesn't move. The AI is your own Claude subscription, so there are no tokens, no credits, and no surprise bill because you prompted too enthusiastically on a Tuesday.

On purpose

Built small on purpose.

Croft apps top out at the number of people you actually know. That's not a limitation we're working on — it's the whole idea. Because your apps will never need to "scale", they can live on a small, honest server that costs a few dollars to run. The price stays flat forever. Nothing is public unless you make it public. And your software can be exactly as scrappy, personal, and particular as your business is.

Building the next Airbnb? Genuinely, sincerely: we are not for you. There are excellent tools for that. Croft is for the software in between — the roster, the quote calculator, the plant database, the thing you currently do in a spreadsheet that deserves better.

How it works

From idea to "here's the link" in one conversation.

1

Get your croft.

Sign up, pick a name. Two minutes later your private server exists, with your login page and your empty apps list.

2

Connect Claude.

Paste one link into Claude's settings. Now Claude can build straight onto your croft — from the app, your desktop, or your phone.

3

Describe the app.

"Build me a tool to track van bookings for the three of us." Claude writes it, deploys it, and hands you the link — live, HTTPS, behind your login.

4

Invite your people.

Add them by email. They tap the link, sign in with a passkey (no password to forget), and they're in. Every future app already knows them.

Examples

Small software, real work.

Staff roster for a six-person café
Booking sheet for the family bach
Stocktake tool for the workshop
Quote calculator that knows your margins
Chore chart the kids actually check
Sign-up sheet for the netball club barbecue
Job board for the two vans
Plant list for the nursery, with photos
Invoice tracker that matches how you actually invoice

The boring parts

The boring parts, done properly.

You'll never think about any of this, which is exactly the point.

Login-first by design. Every app sits behind your login before a single line of its code runs. Apps on Croft can't ship a broken login page — they don't contain one.

One-click rollback. Every deploy can be undone with a single click.

Continuous backups. Every database is backed up continuously — and we practise restoring them.

Safe by default. HTTPS everywhere, passkeys instead of passwords, updates applied for you.

Stake out your croft.

Your team's first app could be live before lunch.
